The next 2 days were spent relaxing, eating, wandering round the lodge grounds, eating, bird watching, contemplating nature
and eating all interspersed with tea, cake, biscuits and more eating!!! But we re-charged our batteries and prepared for the trip south to Nairobi.
When we woke up that first morning we were greeted with a glorious site of Mount Kenya uncluttered by clouds (really unusual, we were told)
from the front door of the cottage
. So we decided to stretch our legs and take a walk to the viewing site at the gate
. About 20 minutes later, the mountain was covered by a blanket of clouds, so we just made it in time!
Iain had decided the previous night to set out for Nairobi. We had left him to pack after breakfast and as we were sitting at the viewing site, he set out heading south
.
After lunch we were exhausted from the walk so decided to relax. The boys built a huge fire in the fireplace and I cracked open the pot and baked banana bread from the freeze-dried bananas we'd been carrying around with us.
. PS: Anja and Jorg made me a crown to wear declaring me World's Best Camping Chef
!!! Ok, so I was chuffed!! Thanks, guys :o)
The rest of the time was spent watching movies, updating our blogs and generally catching up with admin that was lagging behind a little.
