We had a leisurely wake up and breakfast in the sun
not wanting to rush away from the relaxing time we'd been having. We were joined by Kittie 1, Kittie 2, Doggie 1 and Doggie 2 (following on from the naming convention of the donkeys!). But we were all ready to move on and particularly to hit the shopping mecca of Nairobi - we were hoping that we wouldn't be disappointed.....
We set off on the A1 towards our first stop, Nanyuki where we'd cross the equator into the southern hemisphere for the first time (although not the last!). We drove extremely carefully towards Nanyuki on badly pot-holed roads that had never seen any maintenance, with Anja and Jorg in the lead nursing Willy's suspension (or lack thereof!) and finally arrived to greet the Equator.
From Nanyuki the quality of the road immediately changed to well-maintained tar and we made good time to Nairobi arriving at Jungle Junction 4hrs after setting off which we found quite easily following T4A directions. It took a little longer than expected because the traffic from the outskirts of Nairobi was extremely heavy and added an extra 1 hour onto our travel time to negotiate through it. On arriving at Jungle Junction we bumped into Iain again who was just getting ready to leave but was waiting for the service on his bike to be finished.
